F. A. Q.
1. Have you heard of us? Established in 2001, as a non-profit organization; our volunteers assist frail, low income seniors by providing low cost transportation. A) To attend medical appointments B) To visit family and friends in hospital C) To shop 2. What kind of time commitment is necessary? If a person can volunteer as little as 3 Hours at a time, during the week, between 8-5, it would help us get 1 senior to an appointment and back. 3. Who can be a volunteer driver? A) Professional drivers (bus, truck) who have days off during the week B) Students (over 18) C) Teachers (who have the summer off) D) Retirees E) Shift Workers F) Flex time Workers G) Anyone with the time 4. Why would I volunteer to drive a senior? A) You might know someone who could benefit from this service B) You meet fun, knowledgeable people (members, other volunteers) C) You are helping someone in the community 5. I work from 8-5, Monday-Friday, Is there any way I can volunteer my time? Yes, we provide Bingos, sell 50/50 tickets at Cracker Cats games, do Car Rallies, Casinos or become a board member. 6. Do seniors pay the drivers? The seniors buy tickets @ $7.00 each and one ticket is used per trip, for a trip under 2 hours or 2 tickets for a longer far away ride trip. The driver then hands in the tickets and is reimbursed $7.00 per ticket, to offset gas costs. 7. Aside from cash, what other kinds of donations would benefit Seniors Driving? A) We hold a silent auction at our Car Rally and WALKER- A-THON, so donations of items that can be auctioned off are always welcome. B) We sell tickets for the Car Rally, in September so individuals or groups of 4 can enter the rally. C) We have volunteer appreciation events, so gift cards that can be redeemed are always appreciated.
